Why do you want to be on the District Board?
On a personal level, it’s a thankless job that pays nothing. It costs money to run if you put a candidate’s statement in the voting information guide. You need to devote time and energy to staying on top of the material. And there is no benefit.
On a public level, if you are for keeping the Hospital open you are advocating a costly and unhealthy position based on the best available evidence. If you are for closing the Hospital then you are scorned by many and are likely to be ineffective. The ineffectiveness extends to both being elected or, if elected, making any meaningful difference in the face of stupidity, dishonesty, ignorance and arrogance (the four horsemen of those who want to keep the Hospital open).
